THE CHASE by LISA HARRIS
*I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to give a positive review.*
Overall, I thought The Chase was a solid second book in the series. I really enjoy that the author is writing more than one book on these characters as it is not typical for the genre. Writing a book with a “chasing after suspects” plotline can be difficult to pull off, but this author was successful in this novel. Having the side story of trying to solve the murder of Madison’s husband provides a nice filler in between the main story that isn’t boring. I enjoyed the ending to this book more than the first.
One area I still think could be amped up is the romance between Madison and Jonas. It is very much a slow-burning romance, which I don’t mind, but I feel like I’m being told more than shown how their relationship is developing. Looking forward to seeing how this continues to play out in the third book.
